  Charles Marcel Lebel was born and baptized on 4 Nov 1835 in Saint-Louis parish, Kamouraska, Lower Canada. He was the son of Alexandre Lebel, farmer in this parish, and Marie Rose Lavoix. Godparents for Charles Marcel's baptism were Marcel Sirois dit Duplessis and Marie Catherine Plourde; neither godparent signed the register. At age 23 Marcel married first wife Marie Severine Michaud, age 21, on 10 May 1859 in Saint-Louis, Kamouraska, Canada-Est. There were three known children born into this marriage. Césarie Michaud died at age 24 on 19 Aug 1861 in Saint-Louis, Kamouraska.. At age 26 Marcel married second wife Sémier Côté, age 39, widow of Henri Boisbriand, on 10 Feb 1862 in Saint-Arsène, Rivière-du-Loup, Canada-Est. He was her third husband; there were three known children born into this marriage. Sémier Côté died at age 68 on 7 Nov 1890 in Saint-Arsène. He passed away in 1904.
